Bone Marrow Transplantation and Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Niemann Pick A Disease
نویسنده
چکیده
A patient suffering from Niemann Pick A Disease, underwent an haploidentical bone marrow transplantation, which was then followed by intrathecal and I.V injections of mesenchymal cells. Results: While the outcome of the bone marrow transplantation was a complete failure, after one month after from the treatment with the mesenchymal cells the patient improved from the psychomotor and from the parenchymal storage perspective. Hypersplenism was solved and platelets rose quickly from 20,000 to 120,000/ microliter. After the discontinuation of the therapy the disease slowly relapsed; however the patient is alive at the age of 8 years, while the survival of this disease does not exceed 3 years. Conclusions: A bone marrow transplantation resulted ineffective while cellular therapy should be considered as a possible choice for of treatment of for Niemann Pick disease.

Stem Cells and Niemann Pick Disease
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Niemann Pick A disease causes a progressive accumulation of sphyngomyelin in several organs and the survival of the patients is usually limited to three years. We describe the outcome of a patient suffering from Niemann Pick A disease, who first underwent an haploidentical bone marrow transplantation, and then intrathecal and I.V injections of mesenchymal cells. METH...
متن کاملHarvesting of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells from live rats and the in vitro differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells into neuron-like cells
In the bone marrow, there are certain populations of stem cell sources with the capacity to differentiate into several different types of cells. Ideally, cell transplants would be readily obtainable, easy to expand and bank, and capable of surviving for sufficient periods of time. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) possess all of these characteristics. One of the most important benefi...

Background Chronic allograft nephropathy(CAN) is one of the most common causes of chronic and end stage renal disease. It is defined with Mainly tubular atrophy and interstitial fibrosis and no evidence of any other etiology, or functional disorder that caused at least three months after transplantation . Control of risk factors (HTN,DM,HLP, …) and limiting usage of calcineurin inhibitors...
متن کاملP 28: Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Reduces Neuroinflammation and Splenic Cytolytic CD8 + T Cells in Mice with Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis
Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) has been recognized as a common neurodegenerative disease that occurs after an Auto reactive T cells against myelin antigens. Demyelination and inflammation are the main features of this disease. The anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective roles of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) have been considered as a suitable tre...
متن کاملEffects of treadmill exercise and preconditioned bone marrow- derived mesenchymal stem cells transplantation on Aβ-induced neurotoxicity in male rats
Introduction: Preconditioning of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is a promising strategy to enhance the therapeutic properties of transplanted MSCs. In this study, we investigated the synergistic effects of treadmill exercise and dimethyloxalylglycine (DMOG)-preconditioned stem cells in an Alzheimer’s disease (AD) model. Materials and Methods: DMOG- treated MSCs were intravenously transplanted in...
